Benjamin Kamine, Jewish Co-Chair and ICCJ Liaison

Benjamin Haber Kamine is a Lecturer in Rabbinic Literatures and Cultures at the Jewish Theological Seminary, where he also serves as Associate Director of the Milstein Center for Interreligious Dialogue. He holds a joint appointment at JTS, Union Theological Seminary, where he lectures in Interreligious Engagement, and Columbia University, where he is a Special Advisor on Interfaith Matters in the Office of the President. His academic work focuses on early rabbinic literature and interreligious dialogue. Recent publications include: "Said Jacob in the Name of Jesus: Early Rabbinic Exclusion of Jewish-Christians from the Chain of Tradition" (2025), and "The Personal Before and After the Political: Case Study of a Dialogue Methodology for Crisis" (2024), co-authored with Elena Dini and Mohammed Gamal Abdelnour, which explored the possibilities of trilateral dialogue with early career scholars and clergy after October 7th. Kamine serves as 2nd Vice President of the Executive Board of the International Council of Christians and Jews.
Melody Amal Khalil Kabalan, Muslim Co-Chair

Melody Amal Khalil Kabalan is a young Muslim woman from Argentina who has built bridges across cultures, businesses, and communities. Her story combines family tradition, social commitment, and innovative leadership. She is an expert in business with the Arab world and Halal certification, and became the first woman in South America to preside over an Islamic institution, leading Islam for Peace from 2020 to 2025. Melody studied International Relations at Universidad del Salvador (USAL), specialized in Conflict Resolution and Interreligious Dialogue (University of Maryland, Washington D.C.), and trained at the King Abdulaziz Center for Dialogue and Peace. She is also a member of international organizations such as Religions for Peace and KAICIID, and serves on the Middle East Committee at CARI. In parallel, she founded AFIFA.org, an organization dedicated to amplifying the voice and role of Arab and Muslim women through seminars, publications, and initiatives. She also contributed to the book Women of the Halal Industry, and co-founded dialogue spaces such as the Diversity Network and the Laboratory of Religious, Ethnic, and Cultural Diversity in partnership with the Buenos Aires Legislature and UNESCO. She is also co-creator of the video podcast “In Your Shoes”, which she hosts together with her friend and colleague Barbi, where they engage in conversations about conflict, identity, and interreligious empathy. This project has become a true human and cultural bridge and was recently declared of Cultural and Social Interest by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires.
Hussam Elias, Christian Member

Hussam Elias, a doctoral student at the University of Haifa. His research focuses on Identity Formation of Arab Christian Youth in Israel. He graduated with a Master's degree in Sociology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Hussam has more than 20 years of practical experience in community projects designed to promote mutual understanding and tolerance between different religious and national groups. He co-directed interfaith and bi-national programs at the Rossing Center for Education and Dialogue based in Jerusalem. In addition to his work with the Rossing Center, Hussam works as Executive Secretary of the Nazareth-based International Christian Committee in Israel (ICCI), an affiliate of the Middle East Council of Churches and the World Council of Churches, focusing on community socio-economic empowerment and conflict transformation. Hussam lives in Kfar Kana (the Biblical Cana of Galilee) in the Galilee, northern Israel. In addition, he also works as a group facilitator, currently co-facilitating a group of religious leaders at The Haifa Laboratory for Religious Studies. Hussam is also a former fellow of “Intertwined Worlds” – The HLRS Fellowship Program for the Study of Interfaith Encounters. As part of this work, Hussam has participated in the local, regional, and international conferences and symposiums of several social change organizations.
