Antisemitism in the New Testament: A Needed Conversation
The question of whether the New Testament is antisemitic is central to Jewish-Christian relations.
Discussions become complicated by matters such as definitions antisemitism, distinguishing antisemitism from anti-Judaism, translating terms such as Ioudaioi and Israel, separating authorial intent from reception history, claims regarding the Jewish identities of authors and audiences, and the place of supersessionism.
This webinar will feature two prominent biblical scholars – Amy-Jill Levine and Scot McKnight – who will explore the nuances of this fraught topic in the light of the most recent New Testament scholarship, with special attention to its implications for Jewish-Christian relations. .
