Meetings in Heppenheim and Cracow

The ICCJ Executive Board met in Heppenheim, Germany, January 9-11. The 2011 Cracow Planning Committee had a successful meeting the next day at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland.

On Sunday evening January 9, the meeting of the Executive Board started hearing the reports of ICCJ Patron Sir Sigmund Sternberg, ICCJ President Dr. Deborah Weissman and ICCJ General Secretary Rev. Dick Pruiksma. The ongoing integration of Young Leadership Council’s activities in ICCJ’s broader framework was the next item on the agenda. On Monday and Tuesday in-depth discussions were held and a wide range of decisions were taken on the structure and the activities of ICCJ’s theology committee, the revival of the Abrahamic Forum and the money available this year for ICCJ projects.

 

On Tuesday evening Dr. Deborah Weissman, immediate past President Prof. John Pawlikowski and General Secretary Rev. Dick Pruiksma left for Cracow to meet on Wednesday January 12 the other members of the extended 2011 Cracow Planning Committee. The committee chair, Father Dr. Manfred Deselaers from Oswiecim/Auschwitz moderated the meeting at the Jagiellonian University. During the meeting a coherent structure for the 2011 ICCJ annual conference was developed. In the afternoon the ICCJ Board members met in Auschwitz/Oswiecim with staff members of the Auschwitz Museum and the Centre for Dialogue and Prayer.
