First two lectures on line

A very successful ICCJ international conference 2012 ended with a gala dinner on Manchester United Football Grounds on July 5. Most of the 180 participants came together that evening to celebrate an enriching and encouraging meeting, co-organized by ICCJ, the British CCJ, the Manchester CCJ Branch and the Manchester University Institute for Jewish Studies. Those who had worked hard to make this event happen, were thanked warmly and many promised “see you again in Aix en Provence next year.”

All this had started on Sunday July 1 with an official welcome to the conference delegates at Manchester Town Hall. Manchester Bishop Nigel McCulloch, Chair of the national UK/CCJ introduced the speakers, among which the deputy Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Naeem ul Hassan and ICCJ President Dr. Deborah Weissman. A festive dinner, offered by Manchester City Council, concluded the first evening.

The lectures of the three full conference days will be made available as soon as possible on this website. We are proud to be able to offer you now already two of the excellent contributions to this conference. On Wednesday July 4 Dr. Kwok Pui-Lan, a Episcopal Divinity School Professor, gave an outstanding lecture on “Jewish-Christian dialogue in the Non-Western World” to which Rabbi Baroness Julia Neuberger DBE of West London Synagogue excellently responded. As soon as more lectures are published on this website, we will inform you accordingly.
