Chile: Pray for the Victims

Dear friends and colleagues,

This week you were informed that the online registration for our Istanbul conference is now open. Our friends from Chile answered us the same day that they would have been delighted to join us all in Istanbul; but, because of the terrible earthquake that hit their country, their participation in the conference will be impossible. Rabbi Samuel Szteinhendler, President of the Chilean Council of Christians and Jews, suggested that the ICCJ send out to its members and friends a call for prayer and solidarity. The ICCJ answers this call from Chile wholeheartedly.

Let Christians and Jews pray for the victims of this disaster, including the members of the Jewish and Christian communities who suffered from the earthquake and the following tsunami. Let us hope and pray that the members of the Chilean Council of Christians and Jews, and its President, Rabbi Samuel Stzeinhendler, will together find the strength to continue and, in these difficult days, even to enhance their Jewish-Christian friendship.

Dr Deborah Weissman, ICCJ President
Rev Dick Pruiksma, ICCJ General Secretary
