YLC 2016 Conference: Religious Identity in a Multifaith Society

YLC

Young Leaderhip Council | 10.05.2016

Please join the Young Leadership Council (YLC) in Philadelphia for our 2016 conference with the theme “Religious Identity in a Multifaith Society.”

What does it mean to develop in our own religious identities surrounded by friends and coworkers with religious views so different from our own? How can we concretely live our religious identity within a multifaith society?

These are the questions that will be at the heart of the 2016 YLC annual conference that will be held in Philadelphia on July 14-17, 2016.

The role religions play in the social arena is undergoing an increasingly rapid change and our societies are becoming more religiously diverse. This new diversity and visibility is especially clear to young people: at school, at university, with friends, and in the workplace. What does it mean to develop in our own religious identities surrounded by friends and coworkers with religious views so different from our own?

In our 4 days together we will get to know each other, engaging in small group dialogues and exploring the multifaith and multicultural environment of Philadelphia. Participants will have the opportunity to listen to contributions and reflections from young Jews, Christians and Muslims from all over the world, giving a global perspective on the issue of religious diversity and a chance to share best practices from local contexts.

The YLC seeks to give participants both a chance for deep reflection on the topics addressed by the conference as well as the development of practical skills in facilitating dialogue. We will learn a lot together and discover some tools to help us in our interfaith leadership roles once back home.

Join us in Philadelphia this coming July and start being part of the YLC community around the world.
